QuickTime

Recording gameplay

I know I can use QuickTime to record gameplay. I know how to go to QuickTime, click on new screen recording or control-shift-N and start recording. The problem is, then I am being recorded going from QuickTime to my game, having to click on full screen on my game to go back to the full screen and then start the game. I want to record my gameplay so I don’t have all that switching video at the beginning, and the video starts with me in the game starting the level I want to record. How do I do that? The only thing I can think of would be to get a professional edition of QuickTime and edit out where I am switching from QuickTime to the game. However, I don’t think everybody else is doing that and that I must be missing something. This explanation was quite convoluted. I hope anyone who might offer assistance can understand what I am talking about. Any assistance would be appreciated. I am on a MacBook Pro, running version 10.13.6.
