iPod touch

Battery only lasts 5 minutes?

Just recently, I began noticing that my 5th Generation iPod Touch’s battery will go from fully charged to dead in 5 minutes unless I have it plugged into either an external battery or AC. When I have it connected to the battery, it constantly disconnects, and sometimes, it doesn’t recognize that I’ve plugged it in. I think my iPod touch has lightning port issues because it slipped out of my hand once while it was plugged into the ac adaptor. Is it worth the $79 replacement, or should I just wait until I can upgrade my iPhone 6 to a 128 GB model?
