Logic Pro X

External drives turn off and on each time?

I have 2 external G drives I use for Logic, I save to one and make a copy to the other. But I each time I turn the computer on I then turn on the drives, then I at the end of sessions I eject and also turn off each drive.

Is this really necessary? Can I just leave the external drives left turned on and shut down the computer and then turn off the power conditioner?

Then when I power up the computer next time the 2 drives will be on my desk top without having to reach round the back of them and turn each one on again.

Is this ok!?
