(Catalina Apple Music) Duplicate smart playlists showing up when managing my iOS device in finder

In the Apple Music app, there are many playlists I have created. These playlists already existed in iTunes and were carried over with the upgrade to Catalina.

Some playlists are "regular" playlists and some are "smart". There is only ONE version of each of my playlists (either type) showing in the Apple Music app.

When I connect my iPod touch and go to Finder to manage it, I select manually manage and "sync selected artists, albums, genres and playlists". Under the "playlists" tab, there are duplicate copies of almost all of my smart playlists. There are no duplicate copies of the "regular" playlists.

How do I clean this up so I don't always have to select the specific playlists to sync and so I don't have multiple duplicates of smart playlists on my iPod touch?

When I try to play an album, a notice pops up saying I'm already an Apple Music member but doesn't let me play the album. Also, there seems to be no "add to playlist" option for me.
