MacBook Air

Problems with USB Flash Drives

Hi there.

I have a problem which I wondered if anyone can help with. I contacted apple support but just reached a dead end with them.

I had a number of USB Flash Drives connected to a multi-port usb hub on my MacBook Air running Catalina. I accidentally unplugged the hub without ejecting the drives. now they don't work.

the flash drives where quite expensive so I'd like to try to get them working again if I can.

They don't show under Disk Utility at all when plugged in, nor do they show under Terminal with command 'diskutil list'. They don't show on desktop and they don't show on finder.

However they do show in system profiler with info as follows:

Composite Device:

  Product ID: 0x1201

  Vendor ID: 0xffff

  Version: 0.00

  Speed: Up to 480 Mb/s

  Location ID: 0x14200000 / 3

  Current Available (mA): 500

  Current Required (mA): 100

  Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

is there any way to repair these drives? I have tried a number of retrieval/restore apps but they do not detect the drives either.

I'd be grateful for any help.

thanks

same problem exactly. Haven’t found a solution, tried re-formatting on a windows PC, Linux as well. Won’t recognize drive.
