Hi Folks, my Photos library on my Mac is 427GB as it appears under Pictures in the Finder app. However I believe this has grown significantly recently. Also on "About this Mac" storage section, "photos" are only listed as c. 230GB, which is about what I'd expect, and I have a whopping 214GB of "other".
When I look in the folders, bother the "masters" (182GB) and "original" (240GB) folders are large.
The problem is my photos are now taking up almost all my disk..!
A couple of events have happened recently, my google photos account started playing up, so I broke the link and re-linked. This started a very long re-syncing process (took days) as google "back up and sync" programme churned away. It would say "downloading" and syncing. I presume it was downloading from the cloud, comparing to local and then deciding whether to upload or not? Anyway that process has now finished and google phots is happy that its all synced, but I wonder whether this has had some unintended consequence?
Secondly today was trying to recover data from a damaged iPhone and I ticked a box to sync my mac's photos with that iPhone (I'd thought it was the reverse). That worked away for a while before I realised what was happening and ended up pulling the cable out in frustration. But I wonder if that action has caused some problem.
Anyway any advice to get my photos library back to a manageable size would be greatly appreciated!
