s.m.a.r.t. failing. Is the fault with my Mac Pro?

Hi everyone.

For my work I have 7 x Mac Pro 1,1's, 3,1 & 5,1 desktop computers.

On one of the 1,1's I have had 2 drive failures in the last 12 months. In disk utility 2 relatively new Western Blue drives (less than 2 years old with low usage) have demised with 'S.M.A.R.T failing' status.

I know that this is probably not that unusual in itself, but I am wondering that as this has happened now twice on only one of my computers, is it possible that the computer itself may be causing the issue?

Any thought please?

I have 2 8 GB memory cards installed for a total of 16 GB memory. 1 terabyte of perm memory – yet my computer is currently running very slow. I have the latest Catalina software. 10.15.2, I have the 2.3 Ghz Processor. WHY?
