How to make a backup of MacBook Air with a dead display, not just copy files Question marked as solved helpful ★ Latest reply  by  macjack Latest update on the question 5 replies 12 views asked by  jrc362 User profile for user: Nmart09 Nmart09 User level: Level 1 appointment

My wife's display went bad and I want to back up her computer so that when we buy her a new one I can "restore from backup". I connected her computer to my Mac using Target Disk Mode and can copy the files onto a separate hard drive but that doesn't seem like the best way to do it since my guess is it is not saved as a "backup" that the new computer will recognize. Right? Could I use Time Machine on the remote computer to make a backup? Stumped. Any thoughts? Thanks.
