My Alu S5 Cellular took a tumble onto the bathroom tiles and the screen shattered, the watch still works fine.
I called Apple (AU) to arrange a mail-in repair and the bill they sent me is $868.95 AUD. A new watch watch costs $849 AUD.
My understanding was that i would be up for a lot of money (no apple care+), but not that much!
The support person on the phone couldn't believe it himself and double checked the repair price with his manager, but it was correct. He then advised me to write it off and buy a new watch — although I should try my contents insurance first (I don't think it's covered).
Is this really real?
Can this possibly be correct?
