MacBook Pro

Is my Macbook Pro toast?

I have a Mid-2012 Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite (V 10.10.5) In recent years, it's definitely slowed down. However, the past month or so it's starting moving at a glacier speed.

I do run Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop pretty frequently as I'm a Graphic Designer. They have been manageable. Now, I have to force quit shortly after opening a file because I get the spinning wheel of death and it freezes my page. This is happening with preview as well.

The only thing that runs quickly is my internet – Google Chrome. But even that takes forever to load the app at times and leads me to having to Force Quit.

I've uninstalled apps I no longer use and are taking up space. I do have a ton of photos I could purge potentially..

312.5 GB free of 498.89 GB

I've accepted the fact that I will be purchasing a new desktop or laptop within the next year or so, but hoping for some solutions in the interim for speeding up my computer so I can actually use the software I need to.

I also never get software updates anymore….does the 2012 max out at Yosemite?

Thanks in advanced
