apple ID locked

got an email from customer.id@mail.apple.com with a reminder, exact wording as follows:

"your apple I'd has been locked

for security reasons. 25 October 2019, To unlock it, you must verify your identity.

You cannot access your account and any Apple services, Before completing verification, and you have to completing verification before 12 hours or your account will be permanently Locked."

My questions:

Is it a genuine message from Apple?

Is it a spam email from hecker? Do I need to do anything?
