Unable to change country in "settings"


My apple account has somehow picked up my current german location and although my account is a UK account, I am suddenly unable to access most of my music. When I went to "settings" to try to change countries it informed me that in order to do so, I need to cancel my music subscription first – which I reluctantly did – and guess what… nothing changed. I still get the same loop of stupid advice (cancel subscription first) while at the same time it actually shows in the account that my subscription is now cancelled and expires end of Nov… phew… I'm so fed up. I really miss my music 

Can someone by chance help enlighten me & help to solve this?
