El Capitan Keyboard Low Battery Warning

Is there any way in the world to change the interval of the low battery warning for keyboards, trackpads and mice in El Capitan? OMG, we upgraded two older Mid 2010 iMacs from Snow Leopard to El Capitan and the notifications are driving us absolutely crazy. They begin warning us at 20% and we never ever ever change batteries until the devices are down to 5% (what a waste of money that would be). It is insane, who at Apple could have made such a blatant programming error, pestering people when there is still 1/5th of a battery remaining? The notifications pop up so frequently that it is ridiculous. I know we can turn notifications off completely but this defeats the whole purpose of notifications. Is there a plist file that can be edited or a terminal command?
