iCloud on my Mac

ICLOUD NIGHTMARE

I own a MacBook Pro and an iPhone X. First, My iMessages send through my Apple ID instead of my Phone number, giving me a Verification Failed message In the settings app. while setting up my MacBook Pro, my iCloud is forcing me to change my password. Now its not letting me sign in.. and saying my user and password is incorrect. I can't sign in to FaceTime or iMessage on my MacBook now. When it was working my messages wouldn't even show my phone number as an option to use even though when I check through the settings it says my phone number is verified. is there even a way to use iMessage with your phone number? I can't seem to fix this and I've spent a good week trying to.
