iPad Mail not synching with iMap server

Using iMac and iPad on a Telstra (Australian) mail service, both set up to use iMap protocol. Changes made to the inbox on the iMac can take days to be replicated in the iPad mail inbox. In other words, emails deleted or moved from the iMac inbox are still in the iPad mail inbox days later. The changes appear promptly using Telstra's webmail interface. I am using the Apple mail app on both iMac and iPad. I think this may be a post IOS13 problem but can't be certain. Both devices up to date.

Anyone else having this problem or found a solution?
