MacRumors has screenshots of Apple’s CarKey key management system.

The user can add keys to the Wallet application. By double-clicking the side button, access to the car is activated, then you just need to bring the iPhone to it.

The application card contains detailed information about the car, including the brand name, model and express mode. The latter allows you to use your iPhone without including a Face ID or password. You can control the ignition, trunk and doors.

Judging by the posted images, BMW already supports the new system.
