Replaced my iMac's 1TB HDD with a SSD this weekend. This iMac has 5 user account (family members). I used Time Machine to restore all the data to the new SSD. Once the transfer had compiled (36hours via WiFi from my Time Capsule) I went to log into my account… after a 'enter your account info' – including asking too set up a user account password – I was presented with a blank desktop and none of my user data (documents, photos, music, etc all empty). I logged into one other account and it was all OK.
The only thing 'unique' about my user account compared to the others is that I didn't have a password on the user account (yes, I've always used my account with a blank/null password). Would that prevent Time Machine from restoring my user data?
- Is this a known/expected behavior?
- Is there any way I can get Time Machine to retrospectively restore my data, or am I going to have to manually copy it from the old HDD?
macOS: Sierra (10.12.6)
