A great idea that could be implemented on the iPhone. On the iPad, this has been asking for itself since the advent of a separate screen with information blocks from applications.
We were not allowed to freely position widgets and place them between the icons, but we added a small column with useful information.
It’s great that there are two options for displaying the panel: permanent and hidden. In the first case, the first page of the home screen will display blocks all the time, and in the second, for their appearance, you need to do another side swipe, as to go to the widget page earlier.
Portrait orientation is still crooked, but in landscape everything is super. The chip turned out to be valid, we are waiting for the renewal of the forgotten iOS chip and the emergence of new useful informers.
2. Convenient control gestures
appeared For more comfortable working with the text, four gestures with three fingers were added. The chip also got on the iPhone, but nobody will use it on a small screen when working with one hand.
Another thing is working with the tablet. Swipe left with three fingers – cancel the input or the last action. Swipe right – return / repeat the action.
Three-finger pinching and pinching allows you to quickly copy and paste data. This is very convenient when working with text, so as not to wait for the pop-up menu to appear.
3. There are more icons on the desktop
The grid of icons has changed: instead of the 4×5 location, applications are placed 6×5. Firstly, 30 icons are placed on the same screen instead of the previous 20.
Secondly, the icons themselves became smaller, it looks much better, especially on large tablet models.
В Thirdly, the grid with icons is located equally in portrait and landscape orientations. If the icon in one orientation was in the upper right corner, then there it will remain when the tablet is rotated 90 degrees.
4. The screenshot editor is better than most photo editors
Right after creating a picture, a whole panel with all kinds of tools, rulers, a lasso for highlighting and other things is available.
The panel moves conveniently anywhere on the screen and hides if necessary. The chip must be made available to third-party developers so that it can be embedded in other applications.
There is no longer any need to install basic editors to process screenshots.
5. Safari browser seriously pumped
All content and page chips are at our service. There is a side menu with tags, sections of the site and other useful information. You can completely abandon YouTube applications, Google Drive, and other services by working with them through a browser, like on a computer.
In the page settings you can display the mobile version, hide the browser toolbar for full-screen surfing and quickly resize text on the page.
6. In the Split View mode, you can run the same applications
So you can build two windows with mail, notes, reminders or a browser for comfortable work on the device. Of course, convenient dragging and dropping content between windows is supported.
7. Slide Over mode became more convenient
Manage programs in it with gestures, like in iPhone X. Swipe at the bottom of the window switches applications, and swipe up from the bottom border shows all the programs from Slide Over.
An unnecessary application can be thrown away, leaving two or three necessary.
8. Added window display in multitasking mode
Launch the ambiguity panel, hold down the application icon for a second in the dock and see a new context menu item.
After clicking we get all the windows, where this application is running independently or in tandem with another program.
9. iPad learned how to use the mouse
Cupertinos have added support for wired and iPad wireless manipulators. This is not entirely convenient and logical, the chip is in the Universal Access menu, which means that it is primarily aimed at users with disabilities.
After connecting via Bluetooth, activate the AssistiveTouch option in the settings. A plain cursor appears on the screen. You can make it even bigger and change the border color.
There are parameters for changing the cursor movement speed.
The left button at the same time fulfills pressing the screen, the right button displays the AssistiveTouch menu (you can add for example, taking a screenshot, rotating the screen, changing the volume, multitasking bar and other options), and the average returns to the home screen. In most applications the scroll wheel works.
You can use the mouse to make all one-finger gestures in the system: call the notification center, return to the previous page in the browser, display the dock, etc.
Even in some games can already be controlled with the mouse cursor, cool!
10. Files application has become really useful
With the release of iPadOS, everything changed. Now, without the Files application, it’s hard to imagine a comfortable work with the tablet.
The utility has a convenient way of displaying data in the form of columns, by analogy with the Finder from macOS. Moving directories with data quickly becomes much easier.
Together with a full-fledged download manager for Safari, working with data on a tablet goes to the desktop level.
11. iPad made friends with flash drives
The system allowed you to import photos from the drive into the gallery, and the software from the flash drive developers could work with data on the native drive.
Now the connected storage media is fully supported by the application Files with the ability to transfer any data to the tablet’s memory and vice versa.
Here we are from these changes in iOS 13 or iPadOS just thrilled. iPad really turns into a serious tool for work.
